What To Wear To Work Out

So you want to work out, but you're not sure what to wear. Should you go for the trendy gear? Jeans and a t-shirt? Work clothes? What about your shoes? Sneakers? Sandals? Boots? Do some of these sound ridiculous to you? If you answered yes, I'm glad you did. I am not kidding when I say I've seen all of this at the gym. Some people really don't know what to wear for a workout! If you are new to working out and you're not sure what to wear, sit back and take some notes.

When it comes to picking out the clothes you wear for a workout there are two main things to keep in mind: comfort and safety. You want to be comfortable during your workout. One of the biggest reasons why people don't finish a workout is because they are uncomfortable. I have made mistakes like wearing the wrong pants. I have a pair of pants that I wear to be comfortable at home. I have, on occasion, worn these pants on days that I planned to work out so when I'm on the treadmill and they start to fall as I run my workout is immediately impacted. Some people might feel like their workout is ruined and might even call it quits right then and there. Why? Because they are immediately uncomfortable and, if they were already feeling a bit self conscious or self critical, this is enough to end the workout and go home. I'm not gonna lie to you, I have cut a workout short because of having the wrong clothes on. Comfort is so important when it comes to working out.

Start by making sure you have everything you need for your workout. A few factors to consider are weather, time of day, your workout setting (gym or outdoor), type of workout you are planning (high/low impact, high/low intensity) and your personal style preferences. Create your workout outfit according to these things. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get good workout clothes. Most of my workout clothes is from discount stores and clearance racks to be honest. What I look for in the clothes I wear for workouts is comfort and breathability. I don't necessarily have to have the latest trendy outfit. If I'm going to the gym, I like to wear a good supportive sports bra, semi-loose fitting shirt, yoga pants that move with me and comfortable running shoes. If I'm going to spend good money on any part of my workout outfit, it's going to be on my sports bra and shoes. There are those who want to have the latest fitness fashion and that's perfectly fine too. For some people, when they look good, they feel good and that makes a big difference. If you fall into this category, go on with your bad self and get those cute yoga pants with the matching sports bra! Oh and don't forget to take that workout selfie! It's all about you and the way you feel. Let's talk about shoes now. You should always wear sneakers to workout (unless you're swimming, duh!) specifically for safety reasons. Wearing inappropriate footwear can result in injury whether that be dropping a weight, tripping, falling, or somebody stepping on you. Your feet should always be covered. The best choice for safety, comfort and mobility is always a pair of sneakers.

Now that I have given you a few tips, it's time for you to change, lace up those sneakers and crush that workout!
