    Mamacita Moments: Trying To Conceive

If you follow my social media channels or are subscribed to my email list, it’s likely for one of two reasons: fitness or motherhood. I’ve decided to start a blog series which I will call Mamacita Moments. With this blog series, I hope to shed light on REAL motherhood, not what everyone thinks motherhood is or should be. I want to show you the good, the bad and the ugly because nobody does. I believe that there are not enough TRUE stories about what pregnancy and motherhood a

    New Year Letter

This is not a New Year Resolution post... This is a letter to myself and to you. To myself: You're so tired of being last... but you're a mom so sometimes that's the way the cookie crumbles. SOMETIMES, it does NOT have to be all the time. You're important too! You need to give yourself the top spot A LOT MORE OFTEN. Also, your New Year Resolution is going to be the same as the last two years: drink more water. Why? Because it's good for you and (after two years) you still su

Is It Safe To Go Back To The Gym?

Like many people, I stopped going to the gym during most of 2020 and 2021. I went to the gym just a handful of times in 2021. It was a little anxiety inducing to say the least but, I was able to finish my workout. It got me thinking about safety and Covid risk so I thought I'd write a quick blog about it... Is it actually safe to go to the gym right now? Well, to be honest it's not a straight yes or no answer. The risk of contracting Covid at the gym is absolutely higher than

    Working Out During Pregnancy

For those who don't know, I am currently on my third pregnancy. My first pregnancy ended with the birth of a beautiful baby girl, my second with a heartbreaking miscarriage and I am currently in the second trimester of my third pregnancy. They say every pregnancy is different and I could not agree more. I always thought I would be one of those pregnant women you see in the gym until they look like they're gonna pop but that was definitely not me. In my first pregnancy, I was

Sweet & Savory Mahi Mahi Recipe

When I make fish, it's usually salmon or tilapia so I decided to change it up and go for mahi mahi. I didn't want to just replace the type of fish with the same old sides (usually rice or quinoa with steamed veggies). So I got creative and I'm happy to say that it went very well! Today I'm sharing my sweet and savory mahi mahi recipe. What you need: Mahi mahi filets Peaches Sweet potatoes Orange Green bell pepper Red bell pepper Purple onion Spinach Salt Pepper Olive oil spra

    Postpartum Depression

I was at my first postpartum follow up appointment when the doctor started asking me a bunch of questions about how I was feeling. As she went down the list, I realized I was answering yes to everything and I suddenly knew I was not OK. I burst into tears and had a major meltdown in front of the doctor and my husband. He was blindsided and so was I. He said he had no idea that I felt so bad and I told him I didn't either. It was at that moment that I was first faced with a re

I Tried A Meal Prep Service

A few weeks ago, I was catching up with Johnny Diaz from Results Training, my personal training mentor (more on him another day), and he told me that another one of his previous clients, Carter, had started up a meal prep service called Nitty Gritty Cuizine. I have been super busy with different projects and my time has been limited. I try my best to cook so I don't get tempted by fast food options but that is what ends up happening sometimes if I don't have food at home. So

Shrimp & Veggie Stir Fry Recipe

So, I'm going to be totally honest with you. This was not supposed to be a shrimp and veggie stir fry. My plan was to make shrimp fajitas but, when I looked in the fridge, I only had one red bell pepper 😱 I had to get creative to make a meal so I looked to see what I had. I found one Mexican squash, some broccoli and a bag of frozen veggies (carrots, peas, corn and green beans). That's how this meal actually came to be. It turned out great and since I had some people asking

    That Summer Body

Oh that elusive summer body, it's always escaping us. You start thinking about getting in shape after the holidays, you go back to the gym and before you know it you start slacking off because you have plenty of time. Then, as if you entered some sort of time machine, you have been fast forwarded to the summer and you realize you are not where you want to be physically. Well, you are not the only one. Every year, people fall short of their weight loss and fitness goals but th

How To Keep Yourself Motivated To Work Out

    1. Remind yourself why you started in the first place. When you begin your fitness journey, you may be all about it and then your drive might start to waver. This is when you need to remind yourself why you started working out. What made you decide to make this change? What goals do you have for yourself? Keeping that ever-present will be a constant push to get where you want to be. 2. Have realistic expectations. Losing 30 pounds in one month is not realistic and it's defini

    My Birth Story

My due date was November 3, 2017. The date came and went but there was still no baby, apparently I had created a very comfy home for her. I went to my doctor and was scheduled to be induced on the morning of November 10th unless the baby decided to come before that. It was 8:00 AM on November 9th, I was up helping my husband get ready for work. As he left, I felt a little trickle and thought, "OMG, did I just pee myself?" I ran to the bathroom and took off my barely wet undie

Don't Be Moody, Move That Booty!

I was a sophomore in high school and it was that time of the month, you know what I mean, my period. I woke up with the full intention of skipping my physical education class. I got to class and went straight up to the teacher and said, "Mrs. Rodriguez I can't do it today, I'm on my period. It's heavy, it hurts, I'm not in the mood and I just really don't want to do it!" She looks at me and says, "I'm going to do you a big favor and make you go out there anyway. Physical acti

My name is Christina Tapia Nunez, I am a Certified Personal Trainer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science; I am also a wife and mother. Let me tell you how it all started... In 2003, my mom was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. In order to help my mom manage her Diabetes, my siblings, dad and I changed our diets to help my mom make the right decisions. It really was a collective effort and, although it was rough in the beginning, we managed to make a lot of helpf
